I did something bad yesterday...
No, not wrapping Bryson like the holy child. This is last winter when it was cold, he took to the swaddling pretty well for about 3 minutes and decided to break free. Just thought we need a cute picture here :D
Anyway, the bad thing I did yesterday also have to do with Bryson and the weather. It was a hot, hot, HAWT day yesterday, so after running some errands in the car with Bryson, I decided to get myself a McDonald's ice cream cone.
It's the perfect treat in so many ways- it provides instant guilt-free gratification at 150 calories, and I can destroy the evidence of this drive-by-snacking in the exact amount of time it takes me to drive home so nobody ever needs to know.
And yesterday, just as I was about to order my usual cone by the drive-thru' order-taking-machine thingy, I realized Bryson was panting so hard that he had encircled himself in a puddle of drool in the passenger seat (he usually rides in the hatch back compartment but it was just too darn hot).
And so, I did it. I ordered 2 ice cream cones. One upside down in a cup, for my doggie, please.
He was sooooo happy he was stunned speechless for a few seconds when I put that ice cream under his nose. He looked at it, looked at me, looked at the ice cream again, and to me with huge eyes like "For me?! Seriously??" And when I gave my permission, he dug in like there's no tomorrow. Wafer and all.
I've never given Bryson human icecream before, and when I got home, I felt a bit guilty. He's fine, but all that sugar can't be good for him. He obviously didn't care, he was still licking his chops.
And then I remember seeing a recipe for a doggie ice cream a while back. I googled it, and voila, here it is! I think I'm gonna try it before summer's over.
Frosty Paws Recipe:
32 oz. vanilla yogurt
1 mashed banana or one large jar of baby fruit
2 T. peanut butter
2 T. honey
Blend all together and freeze in either 3 ounce paper cups or ice cube trays. Microwave just a few seconds before serving.
Has anyone tried this before? Any other good doggie ice-cream substitute recipe to share? I'm not a huge home made treat person, but thought I'd give it a shot, since the Corg King will probably start demanding this icy delicacy.
