We have arrived... in Canada!
No, we didn't change our plan, but Toronto is our first stop before we head across the pond, so we can spend some much-needed time with my family. Some of you may know that my family, the Kams, of which most members spent a great deal of their lives living within a few blocks of each others in Hong Kong, has now scattered around each and every corner of the globe- a Kam can be found in Boston, Seattle, Toronto, San Francisco, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and even Costa Rica. So it's a real treat when we have the occasion to gather for even a few short days.
Toronto is where the patriach of the family, my Grandpa, as well as 2 uncle/aunts call home now, so that's where we tend to gravitate towards. This is the first time we visit since my Grandma passed away here last year. It is bittersweet to see my Grandpa again- 92 and going strong- bless his heart. We visited my Grandma's grave site for the first time today:
Cemetery visits aside (filial piety is a big thing in Chinese culture), our visits seems to revolve around eating. After breakfast, you wonder what you're doing for lunch, and right after lunch, you start thinking about dinner, and after that, you start with breakfast all over again... Here's one of our compulsory group picture at dinner tonight:
17 strong with still 7 key members missing... (8 if you count Bryson)
Tomorrow we'll hop on our little charter flight to London (Transat). It's half the price of a ticket on Air Canada, we couldn't resist. Let's hope you hear from us again.
