Bryson has just passed his 90-day trial period with us (It sure felt like we've been family longer than 90 days...) Yippee!! Or, as Bryson would say, WE've passed HIS 90-day trial period. We peeked into our garbage can today and saw that he's finally decided to throw away his return Greyhound ticket back to Oroville. I guess we could say that we've passed as new dog-parents, whew! (Champagne toast!)
However, he couldn't just let go of his previous family so easily (he has hearts, you know). So, when he saw on the Golden Gate Pembroke Welsh Corgis Fanciers website that a corgi show is held today nearby, where his old family and breeder is likely to attend, he put us in the car and demanded that we go to watch the show.
We couldn't lie that we were a bit excited and nervous too about Bryson meeting his old family (what if he wants to go back to his bio-parents afterall?) But as soon as we arrived, we forgot all about our worries when we found a lovely park covered with the most beautiful corgi puppies; it's truly a corgi-lovers' dream-come-true!
As we were poking around, we started hearing excited calls of "Ben, Benny? Is that you?" closing in around us. (Remember, Bryson was the Champion Faerie Glen Ben Rabba in his show days). We looked towards the source and there they were, all of Bryson's old gang! Bryson was so excited to be reunited with his old Mommy (Linda, the breeder in Oroville where we adopt Bryson from), all his relatives, and even one very special puppy who looks a whole lot like him...
It's Bryson's 15-month-old son, Connor! Even though we know that Bryson has sired 2 litters of puppies in the past, seeing this father-son reunion was still a bit beyond our comprehension ("Bryson, you mean you're this young lad's father? Boy, when were you going to tell us?...)
(With Darth Veda sound effect) Connor, I... am... your... Father... (Hooo... Eeeee...)
Eager contestants: is it our turn yet? Please, I need to go home and catch America's Funniest Animal Video asap
Go, Connor! (You can tell this guy is related to Bryson from a thousand miles away)
Gorgeous Puppy: Look, I get my pose down!
Bryson: who cares about posing? I smell traces of old lunch meat here.... come, help me find it!
Everyone was happy and impressed to see that Bryson has mastered his obedience commands and tricks so well. Nobody saw the massive piece of treat I slipped him when everyone was busy applauding (whew!).
And we're glad to report that despite of this happy and emotional reunion, Bryson still wanted to come home with us afterwards. I guess we can now say that we have truly passed the test of our 90-day trial period. Woo-hoo!
