Yes, it's Chinese New Year, folks! And what makes it super special is that it's the Year of the Rabbit, which is my year. Which means I'm 24 (again), yay! You can find out what year you are here, and if great (mis-)fortune is coming your way this year (ooh...)
If you've followed our blog, you'll notice that we've recycled Eva's Chinese outfit from last year:
Ha, I still love this picture from last year! She looks like a different kid, doesn't she? What a difference a year makes... I think the pig tails probably give her that more "mature" look too.
Bryson's getting in on the festivities as well:
Ooh, look what I found in my red pocket, gold coins (aka chocolate!)
Eva: Nom, nom, nom... hmm, so this is what chocolate tastes like *addicted*
Bryson: Drool, drool, drooooooool....
No chocolate for me, boo...
Pardon the poor lighting, it's taken in Eva's room where there's no outside window. Which partially explains why I haven't taken pictures of her "crib friends". But now that I have the camera in here already, we finally snapped a shot of her famous friend, Barack:
Isn't he so darn adorable? Complete with a fuzzy belly and even a neat little belly button. He's the creation of blog friend Sara over at rhymes with spoon. She came out to San Francisco last year and brought Barack to Eva. I named him Barack coz he's from Chicago, and well, it just came out of my mouth and it stuck. Thanks, Sara, and sorry for the late (late!) photo!
You'll notice that our little girl has learned to pose. Toddler and Tiara time? Uh, no.
You may also notice that the tummy area is a little tight. Totally my misjudgement. She's really tall and kinda skinny for her age, so in my misguided effort to adjust the "pattern", I messed up. She's all happy and posing here, but if you saw her while we tried to wrestle her out of the top, you'd swear she's possessed.
You can see how the chest/waist area is kinda narrow, boo. I'll have to make some major adjustments next time.
And another thing I learned is that sewing tiny little clothes means lots of pins sticking up in all directions when you're sewing tight areas like the sleeves. Ouch ouch ouch! Not sure how to work around it though...
Anyway, hope I'll get a chance to sew some more and post about them.
In the mean time, enjoy your Rabbit Year ;)
